Thanksgiving just isn't going to be the same this year...
This is the first time in 15 years that we won't be making the 4 hour trip to my parents house for Thanksgiving. I'm sad about it and so are the kids - but safety has to come first
I'm 35 years old and this will only be the 3rd Thanksgiving that I have not spent at my parents! Two, I missed while I was wokring as a nanny and now this one.
We are in the middle of a winter blizzard (have been since Monday afternoon) and the roads are terrible, many of them closed. The temperature is currently -12 with high winds as well. So, it's much colder outside that them thermometer says that it is.
So, we will be having Thanksgiving at our house for the first time EVER! I'm going to make a ham, potatoes & gravy, corn, jello dream salad and some sort of dessert.
The kids, dogs and I are warm and having a lazy day INSIDE today. But, my poor hubby is working OUTSIDE in this today (and yesterday). I feel so bad for him and the other guys he's working with! I'm sending him warm thoughts, but I know it doesn't help him at all! :)
Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!

Oh my goodness, I can't believe all that snow! We've just had the cold weather and I'm pretty sure it was mixed with sleet there for awhile since that's how it sounded on the windows at least here in Illinois.
I'm sorry to hear about not being able to spend Thanksgiving with your parents but I do agree you are making the right decision.
I hope you do have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving.
