SodaStream Review

Just before Christmas I starting hearing about the Soda Stream Soda Maker.  I thought to myself, "What a neat idea!"  My husband and I had talked about it a little bit together as well.  We both thought it was a great idea, convenient too!

I recently received a SodaStream to review.  I received a SodaStream Jet soda maker in black/silver, one carbonator (good for making up to 60L of soda),  two BPA-free plastic liter bottles and a variety of flavors.  Each bottle of concentrated SodaMix contains enough syrup to make about 12 liters or 33 cans of fresh, delicious soda.

Let me begin by saying that it is simply amazing. We LOVE it!

SodaStream offers more than 30 regular, diet, energy and caffeine-free flavors of syrup.  I received Cola Free, Energy Drink (much like Red Bull), Ginger Ale, Root Beer, Diet Lemon Lime, Cranberry Raspberry, Diet Pink Grapefruit and MyWater Flavor Essence Lemon Lime.

Why SodaStream?

•Save space with concentrated sodamix and reusable carbonating bottles
•No more lugging and storing heavy, bulky bottles and cans
•No more hassles with empties in the trash or recycling bin
•No batteries, no electricity, no plumbing

It's also EASY to use, so easy that my 7 and 10 year olds can use it.  (with adult supervision, of course)

I love the fact that the SodaStream makes both soda and flavored water.  It is so quick and easy to use.  Fill the bottle with water, screw the bottle onto the SodaStream, push the button a couple of times, un-twist and ENJOY!  It only takes a matter of seconds.

For those who don't normally drink soda because of the calories, SodaStream soda offers a healthy alternative.  Regular flavors contain no high-fructose corn syrup, and diet flavors are sweetened with Splenda® brand sweetener, not aspartame.  All of the flavor without the calories.

The first flavor we tried (as requested by my children) was the Root Beer.  It's their all-time favorite soda, although they RARELY get to drink it.  It took my husband less than a minute to prepare a liter of Root Beer from start to finish.  Of course, I had to try it.  It was the best Root Beer I have ever tasted!  No joke!!

We have since tried the other flavors as well and all of them are equally as delicious.  Another thing that I love about the SodaStream is that we can adjust the flavors to our liking.  We can add more or less syrup and experiment with the flavors.

The SodaStream is also very sleek and not at all bulky.  From the moment I opened the box, it has been sitting on the counter.  I honestly can't see myself hiding this away in the cabinet.  I'm positive it will be a permenet fixture on the counter for easy use.

**I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely my own. Results may vary. I was not compensated in any other way for this review.

A special thanks to SodaStream for this great review opportunity!

  1. Does the cola taste like Coke-Cola or Pepsi?

  2. We've had a SodaStream for about 2 years now, and it's AWESOME! ^_^ My husband drinks upwards of 2 liters a day, and he doesn't like plain water. Having the SodaStream has saved us a bundle of $$, since he doesn't stop by gas stations to buy drinks anymore.

Pete's Choice is their version of Dr. Pepper, and I actually like it better than the "real thing!" It has a slightly stronger vanilla flavor, which just really works.

I have to disagree with the Root Beer verdict though. *^_^* We've tried it a few times, and it's terrible. There's no bite to it! We added waaaaay more carbonation to see if that would help, but it didn't.

Tractor Mom, my hubby drinks the Cola and he says it's like RC (generic) cola. I stick to Pete's Choice. In fact, there's a bottle of it on my desk right now. ^_^
