Being Frugal Also Allows Me to Splurge!

Being frugal and saving money is my way of life. Regardless of what I'm shopping for, I am always looking for a great deal, clearance section or coupon. Being able to combine a coupon with a sale or clearance item is something I love being able to do!  I take pride in the fact that I rarely pay full retail price for anything. Most times I save much more money than I spend. It's a wonderful feeling and one that I love sharing.

I have two children, 7 and 10 who are both obsessed with WWE!  They are HUGE fans, oh my goodness, I can't even begin to tell you how much they love WWE!

We have WWE matches in our house on a daily basis, we get WWE DVDs from Netflix weekly and they watch it on TV Monday and Friday nights! They own 20 or more WWE action figures, the WWE smackdown ring, 3 championship belts and a Rey Mysterio mask!

With that being said, being frugal and saving money also allows me to splurge every once in a while.   The money that I earn online, I save in my PayPal account for family vacations and special outings.  Thus, our "splurges" are indeed frugal as well, being funded by my online earnings and wins.  So, no money out of our pocket!  Frugal, right?

Being frugal and saving money is great... but it's those little "extra" activities that really make the memories!

Our latest splurge activity was attending WWE Smackdown on May 24th!  I entered 6 different giveaways in hopes of winning tickets but that didn't work in my favor.

On the afternoon of the event, my husband and I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase tickets for the event.  We purchased our tickets just 2 hours before we had to leave.  We didn't tell our kids that we were going, it was a BIG surprise (and shock) for them when we arrived.  They FREAKED out --- they were so excited!

The look on their faces and their excitement was PRICELESS!  Well worth the money and the splurge!

Has being frugal allowed you to do extra things with your family?

How fun Bridget! I so agree that being frugal is all about knowing when to splurge.

We always splurge by going to the Keys - it is just what my family needs to relax, and even though it costs a lot, it is definitely worth it.

Thank you for participating in last week’s Wednesday Window @ Frugality Is Free.

Congratulations you are this week's featured blog.

That's awesome. One of these days I'm going to be able to splurge on the whole family, but just recently I signed my oldest daughter up for a 4 week long tumbling class through the rec. dept. in our city. Only $24 but it's something I've been wanting to do for her. It starts Saturday. Shhhhh she doesnt know yet. ;)

This looks like it was so much fun! I bet they'll always cherish this memory of Mom and Dad surprising them with something they love so much! :)
