Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I have visited Seattle, Washington many times over the years. I grew up in a small town with a population of just over 300 people, it has since grown to a population of just over 700 people. I clearly remember the first time we went to Seattle as a family. I was amazed at how BIG everything was. There were so many tall buildings, so many cars, so many people. Even those simple things I clearly remember after so many years.
Seattle, Washington is the northernmost major city on the West Coast and the largest city in the state of Washington. A seaport situated on a narrow strip of land between Puget Sound (an arm of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles south of Canada.
KID FRIENDLY SEATTLE:
There are so many family friendly activities and places to explore in Seattle, Washington. We make atleast one weekend trip to Seattle each year and we always wish that we had more time to spend.
We love taking the kids to the Woodland Park Zoo. The kids love getting up close and personal with all of the amazing animals there. They also have numerous shows, exhibits and even hands on activities for the children to participate in. The Woodland Park Zoo is a conservation and education institution demonstrating the value, beauty and interdependence of all living things.
The Seattle Aquarium is another wonderful place to let the children learn and explore. They are able to see, touch and explore an amazing underwater world. The Seattle Aquarium also offers day camps for ages 7-15 and child/adult programs for 7 and younger. I think the day camps would be so much fun, I wish we lived close enough to participate in one of those. Be sure to enjoy a stroll on the Seattle Waterfront while you are there.
The Seattle Waterfront is an adventure in itself. There are numerous eclectic souvenir and curio shops, curious and friendly seagulls, fresh bakes waffle cones and delicious ice cream flavors, fresh Pacific Northwest seafood and so much more!
The Seattle Children's Museum is a great place for children to learn, have fun and just be a kid. Their mission is to bring to life the joy of discovery for children and their families through fun, creative, hands on exploration of the world around them. The Seattle Children's Museum strives to ignite children's curiosity and encourages them to become active, life long learners. TRUST ME, they do exactly that and more. The Seattle Children's Museum is so much fun, it's so much fun that it's hard to leave. There is always something new and exciting going on, they even have fun summer camps!
The Pacific Science Center is an amazing place, it has something for all ages, children and adults alike . I'll even admit that my husband and I have gone here together even before we had children! I think that one of my favorite parts was the tropical butterfly house, amazingly beautiful! There is also an IMAX theatre, wonderful exhibits, fun hands on exhibits and activities, a planetarium, exciting laser shows, education and fun summer camps and much more.
Lets not forget the famous Seattle Space Needle. No visit to Seattle is complete without a trip to the top! The view from the top is like no other. Are you brave enough to look over the edge? A soaring 520 feet above ground, the Space Needle’s Observation Deck offers a complete 360 degree view of Seattle. View from indoors or outdoors. Plus the telescopes are always free. If we have parked nearby, we always try to spot our vehicle from the top, it looks so small!
Here is a budget friendly tip, buy the Seattle City Pass for each person going, it saves you $51.99 per person! In addition to the savings - you won't have to stand in line for tickets! Each Seattle City Pass booklet is valid for nine days. The booklet is “activated” when you visit your first Seattle attraction. So, you get the rest of that day and the following eight consecutive days to use the other five tickets.
The Seattle City Pass is admission to six of Seattle's most popular attractions: The Seattle Space Needle, The Seattle Aquarium, Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour, The Pacific Science Center, The Woodland Park Zoo, and your choice of The Museum of Flight OR The Music Project/Science Fiction Museum!
