I know that the purpose of the bathroom isn't for it to be used as a hideaway, but it's often the only place that a mom can get a little time of her own. I don't know how many times I've been in the bathroom and heard that dreaded knocking on the door, followed by... "Mom, what are you doing? I need you!"

As a mother of two children, I pride myself in the gift of being able to "trick" or as I like to say, "encourage" my children to do certain things! Here are just a few of my favorite parenting tricks:
Make it FUN: My children absolutely LOVE shoveling snow, picking up pinecones in the yard and helping with the laundry. They don't think of it as doing chores because we make it fun with games and songs!
Make it a race: You'd be amazed at how quickly toys get picked up when the kids think it's a race!
Sneak it in: If they don't know it's there, they aren't going to throw a fit! Finely shredded vegetables are the perfect ingredient to bread, soups, spaghetti and most meals that you prepare.
Moms are famous for being able to multi-task and adapt to unexpected obstacles that are thrown our way. It's up to us to stick together and share what we know, and make sure that we raise happy, healthy children!
