Breastfeeding or Baby Formula: What Is it the Right Choice for You?

Breastfeeding versus baby formula has been a topic of discussion and debate for years.
Before my son was even born, I had already made the decision to breastfeed.  The thought of feeding my newborn son baby formula hadn't even crossed my mind.

It broke my heart when I realized that breastfeeding wasn't working for my son.  In fact, I cried for days and felt like a terrible mom.

I wasn't able to breastfeed my daughter either, no matter how hard I tried or what extra steps I took.  It just didn't work for us.

Through the experiences with my children, I know first hand that some things simply don't work out as planned.

As with many things in life, you have to adjust and do what works, and that might not always be what was planned.  Simple fact is... we just have to do what is best for our children.

It is required that all baby formulas are nutritionally complete and meet the nutritional guidelines determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.  So parents (especially moms) can take comfort in knowing that they are feeding their baby a healthy alternative to breast milk!

Whether you choose a premium infant formula, organic or a soy based formula for those babies with extra sensitive systems, it is comforting knowing that no matter your situation, there is a baby formula that is perfect for your baby.

Did you breastfeed or use baby formula?

Love your post! This is exactly what I went through. Neither of my two sons would latch on. I tried and it was very upsetting to me. But in the end I had my pediatrician tell me that formula is so advanced that I should not feel guilty. There is too much pressure on moms to breastfeed now a days. My boys are healthy, smart 3 and 6 year olds and they were both formula babies! More people should write posts like this!

I breastfed both of my children. My oldest was 5.5lbs, with a tiny little mouth. I was pretty niave regarding breastfeeding, but determined. There were blisters, buckets full of tears, but I was determined to nurse at least 6 weeks. After 6 weeks passed things improved. She doubled her weight at 8 weeks, and nursed for 20 months before I weaned her. It was very difficult, but very rewarding.

My second was a complete cake walk in comparison. She weaned herself around 22 months (started to go 2-3 days without nursing).

I am happy that formula exists for those not able to nurse or that choose not too.

All parents are trying to do the best they can for their kids, no matter if they formula or breastfeed. We needs to be more inclusively supportive to all moms, dad, and guardians.

I breastfed and then gradually switched over to formula. Luckily, they fine with the transition.

Yes! Love that you said "we must do what's best for our children". As long as our kids are healthy and happy - that's all that matters!

Kudos to you for a great post!
