More mothers are choosing to breastfeed longer, it's a very special bonding experience they get to share with their baby. In addition, many mother's are choosing to co-feed and let their husband's experience this special bond with their baby as well. Making that transition easy for both mom and baby is crucial to its success.
Calma, a new woman and infant breastfeeding innovation that Medela recently launched in the U.S. Calma is a research-based nipple used with a BPA-free breastmilk bottle designed to allow babies to maintain their natural feeding behavior and transition from bottle back to breast with ease — a revolution for breastfeeding mothers.
Switching from bottle back to breast has never been easier. Calma was developed using evidence-based research on babies' natural feeding behavior so you can enjoy your breastfeeding bond longer.
With Calma, the milk will only flow if your baby works and creates vacuum to remove the milk. This enables the feeding behavior learned at the breast to be used with Calma.
What’s unique about the Calma baby bottle is that it is more than a conventional bottle nipple: it’s a research-based feeding solution designed exclusively for breastfed babies to support mothers in maintaining their breastfeeding goals, especially during life transitions (like going back to work or date night).
Bond with your baby longer (and easier)... with Calma!

I used the Calma with my son 2 years ago (we lived in Europe then) and we loved it!!

I learned that the baby needs to create a vacuum to get the milk to flow through the calma nipple - I love how technology is catching up! My daughters never got the hang of bottles, which made it difficult when I had to be away occasionally - for the next baby these bottles could make a huge difference for me!
Medela’s primary focus is breastfeeding…by helping moms to successfully breastfeed their babies and to do so for as long as they choose.

I've never seen bottles like these, but I wish I had known about them when my son was an infant. We had an awful time transitioning to the bottle. I learned that using Calma the baby can pause feedings naturally, like w/ a breast because milk only flows when baby creates a vacuum.

I like that they can control the flow like breastfeeding which makes it easier to go back and forth for work and other things.

I learned about the Calma bottles and how they mimic breastfeeding. I am a huge fan of medela, I use their pump, storage bags, washable breastpads and more. I did not know that they had these bottles. My baby really had a terrible time transitioning from breast to pumped milk in a bottle when I returned to work and these bottles sound like they would have helped.
