Neighborhood Toy Store Day - Saturday November 10th

I grew up in a small town, and appreciate the importance of shopping local and supporting local, small business.  You don't have to "shop big" in order to get great prices and quality merchandise.

Tomorrow, November 10th, is the 3rd annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day! To celebrate, many local toy stores across the country will host fun activities, events and special discounts for children of all ages!

In addition to fostering a sense of community, shopping locally provides a number of economic benefits to a neighborhood.  Here are a few good reasons why you should shop at your local neighborhood stores!
  • For every $100 spent in local, independently-owned stores, $68 returns to the community in the form of taxes, salaries, charitable contributions etc.
  • For every $100 spent at national chain stores, only $43 returns to the community in the form of taxes, salaries, charitable contributions, etc.
  • Shopping locally gives a sense of community
  • Shopping locally helps community development
  • Shopping locally helps economic stability in your community
  • Shopping locally often provides better customer service
  • Independent toy stores often carry high-quality, boutique and speciality products, which you may not find at big box stores

If you love supporting local, small businesses, here's how you can help:
